"Globe"

Globe is located within the center of the Tonto National Forest. Mining is integral to the town's past as well as its future. In fact, the town is rumored to have taken its name from a globe-shaped piece of pure silver located nearby.

Roosevelt Lake is the largest body of water in central Arizona, which more than 88 miles of shoreline. The lake was formed by a masonry dam, which was constructed on the Salt River in 1911.

The Boyce Thompson Arboretum allows visitors to view the area's natural beauty up close. Encompassing 323 acres, the Arboretum is Arizona's oldest and largest botanical garden. The Arboretum was founded in the 1920's by mining magnate Col. William Boyce Thompson as a way to preserve plant life and natural resources.

The Superstition Mountains are filled with lore and legend. The most famous legend being that of the Lost Dutchman's gold mine. According to the legend, a Dutchman named Jacob Waltz discovered large deposits of gold in the area but the mine's location was kept secret and only hinted at in a cryptic map. People still search to this day for the gold. Lost Dutchman State Park has numerous hiking trails as well as camping facilities.
